Communication Plan

The Burnt Hills - Ballston Lake Teachers Association believes that communication with parents is an incredibly important part of education. Here is how we reach out to parents.

3x3 Initiative
November of 2011 and April/May of 2012
Each member of the Association was asked to call (or write) three different parents at their home each week for the month of November (and again in April). These correspondence were strictly positive. Postcards (postage paid) were also provided. Communications were about a variety of topics: thanking parents for sending their child to school prepared, participation in class, grades, homework completion, overall effort, little victories, etc. Hundreds of positives outreaches were made. There are few stronger ways to build a positive connection between parents and teachers. This speaks to the BH-BL TA's commitment to our students and this community in an unfiltered way.

Support the Budget Campaign 2012:
May 2012
The President of the BH-BL TA wrote a letter to fellow educators who live in the BH-BL District asking them to support the budget. Over 800 letters were mailed. The budget passed by a margin of 71%.

Power School Parent Night
January 18th, 2012
Working with all stakeholders (teachers, admin, IT staff) the TA demonstrated the ins and outs of the Power School parent portal to district parents (middle and high school).
