TA Members, Last night (11/29/11), the Board of Education finalized the composition of the school - community interview committee for the Superintendent search process. As Teachers Association President, it is my duty to appoint TA members to this committee with the advice and consent of Executive Board and Representative Council. The Committee will be composed of three separate, but equal groups of individuals representing various parts of our school community. The make-up of the Committee is similar to the 2004 superintendent search: in addition to the TA president, TA representation will consist of members from the three levels of education (elementary, middle, and high school) on each of the three committees totaling 11 teachers. The school - community interview committee will meet on February 6th, 7th, and 8th from 3pm through 9pm. There will also be a "training" evening in mid-Jaunary (the 17th).These dates are somewhat tentative at this point. This is a considerable time commitment but this process is extremely important. I encourage all of you to consider being part of the interview committee. If you are interested in being a part of this process, please reply sender and express your interest. Include one sample question you would ask a potential Superintendent candidate. Exe Board will consider all applications using the following criteria: - Experience in the TA in leadership positions - Familiarity with TA positions on District issues - Familiarity with TA's positions on Building level issues - Knowledge of the organizational structure of the BH-BL school district - Representation of a cross-section of the TA's membership Rep Council will consider and approve Exe Board's selections at the December 15th meeting. Thank you for all you do. In Unity, Mike |
